When the storms roll in... Mark 4:39

We are now on day two of our beach trip, and though the sun has been generous, it left its mark—my husband and I are sporting shades of red that would make a lobster jealous. Thankfully, our little one remains untouched by the burn, full of energy and excitement.

Tonight, as I sit by the balcony of our condo, nature has decided to put on a show. A thunderstorm has rolled in, and the lightning streaks across the horizon in dazzling, jagged flashes. The sky, once painted in soft hues of sunset, now pulses with energy, lighting up the clouds with each electrifying burst. It’s breathtaking—wild, untamed, and strangely comforting.

The irony of the storm and the relation to my book is not beyond me here.

The contrast between the restless waves and the stormy sky feels symbolic. This trip has been needed more than words can express, yet the journey to get here has been filled with challenges. Life has been heavy, full of uncertainty and setbacks, but somehow, standing here, watching this storm, I am reminded of something powerful—storms are fierce, but they pass. The darkness, the chaos, the unpredictable shifts—they don’t last forever.

I'm sure when the rain stops and the storm rolls away, even in the dark God's promise to never flood the earth will be present in the sky. That rainbow will still prove true.

Tomorrow, we plan to venture beyond the beach, exploring the island and making new memories. But for now, I’m allowing myself to sit in this moment, to take it all in, to let the beauty of the storm remind me that even in difficulty, there is awe-inspiring wonder.

If you’re walking through a season that feels stormy—keep going. The skies will clear, the waves will calm, and what feels impossible today will soon be just another chapter in the story you are writing.
