We make mountains out of molehills, then wonder why we can’t climb them.

Hey Friend, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet.

Some of you may know that besides being a writer, illustrator, mother, and wife, I am also a homesteader. On our little patch of land we have two rabbits, two huskies, and twenty chickens. I’ve got a garden, and I’m currently trying to learn how to make sourdough, which feels like its own spiritual journey some days.

This year I have more chickens than when we first started, which means I now have a surplus of eggs. A blessing, yes… but also a bit of a puzzle. Apparently, in order to sell said eggs, I need a candling certificate. So I reached out to the agriculture department in my town to see what steps I need to take to get that ball rolling.

And isn’t that just how life goes?

We make plans. We set goals. Some are simple. Some take a little more work. And some — well, some we make impossible without even realizing it.

I can already hear you saying, “But FASP, why are you calling my goals unreachable?”

Because sometimes we set goals that *we* make impossible.
Not because we’re incapable, but because we try to build them in our own strength, on our own timeline, with our own expectations stacked sky‑high.

Scripture speaks right into that.

“Unless the Lord builds the house…” — Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;

How many times have we tried to build something a plan, a dream, a project — and wondered why it felt like pushing a boulder uphill?
Not because the dream was wrong, but because we were trying to build it alone.

“We plan… but He establishes.” — Proverbs 16:9
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

We map out the whole journey, but God is the one who actually lays the stones beneath our feet.
Sometimes the goal isn’t unreachable it just isn’t reachable *the way we imagined*.

My burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28–30
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened.....For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

If the goal feels crushing, overwhelming, or impossible, it might be because we added weight God never asked us to carry.
Perfectionism is heavy.
Self‑imposed pressure is heavy.
But Jesus’ way is not.

“Not by might…” — Zechariah 4:6
'Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit' says the LORD of hosts.

Some goals only feel impossible because we’re trying to accomplish them through sheer willpower.
But God never intended for us to white‑knuckle our way through life.

“More than we ask or imagine.” — Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think, according to that is at work within us,

This is the reminder I cling to when I’m staring at a mountain I accidentally built myself.
God can do more — far more — than I can imagine.
Even with candling certificates.
Even with homesteading chaos.
Even with the goals I set too high or too wide or too fast.

So if you’re looking at something in your life that feels impossible, maybe pause and ask:

Did I make this impossible?
Or did I forget to let God build it with me?

Either way, He’s not intimidated by your mountain.
And He’s more than able to guide your steps, lighten your load, and turn your “impossible” into something beautifully doable in His timing, by His Spirit, and for His glory.

Stay blessed, friend. I’ll keep you updated on the egg‑selling adventure.
