To Fly A Kite

Hey friends, and welcome back to my little side of the internet,

The rolling crash of the ocean waves against the shore is both powerful and soothing, a reminder of nature’s steady heartbeat. Each wave tumbles forward with a quiet determination, kissing the sand before retreating, only to return again. The salty breeze carries the scent of the sea, while the wind dances through the canopy overhead, making its fabric flutter like a restless spirit. Our bright, colorful kites sway effortlessly in the sky, twisting and turning in harmony with the ever-moving air, performing their graceful ballet against the backdrop of endless blue.

(It was my very first time ever getting a kite to fly and it was euphoric. For years I wanted to fly a kite, but I have never had the winds we did today. Of course, as a child I tried but either my legs weren't fast enough or the wind wasn't strong enough to take it up. But today, today as a grown woman and a mother, I flew my first kite, and I got to do it with my little and my husband.)

Today was one of those rare, perfect beach days—the kind that settles deep into your soul. The wind was lively, keeping the heat at bay, and the tide was strong, shaping the shore in its own mysterious way. The sun poured its golden warmth over us, and laughter filled the air as we spent the day in the company of truly great friends.

The past few years have been a storm in their own right. Between our move to a new home, my husband losing his job, and the emotional rollercoaster of trying to publish my first book—only to have it temporarily delayed for final edits—life has felt like one challenge after another. But today, standing here with my family, toes buried in the warm sand, I realize just how much we needed this. A moment to breathe. A moment to reset.

If you’re feeling the weight of the world pressing down on you, take the time to step away. Escape, even if just for a little while, to that place where peace surrounds you and God's presence feels closest. Whether it's the ocean, the mountains, or the quiet solitude of your own backyard—go. Find that space that speaks to your soul, and let it restore you.

Life is but a vapor—here one moment, gone the next (James 4:14). So, take the trip. Say yes to the moments that refresh and reboot your spirit. You deserve it. And more importantly, you need it.

Pray this with me.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of rest, for the moments that remind us of Your presence in the gentle waves, the whispering wind, and the laughter of loved ones. In the busyness of life, help us to seek You, to find renewal in Your peace, and to embrace the beauty of each fleeting moment. Guide our hearts toward gratitude, strengthen us through every challenge, and remind us that no matter where we go, You are always near.

May we find time to pause, to breathe, and to be still before You. May we walk forward with renewed strength, knowing that in Your presence, we are truly refreshed.

In Jesus' Name, Amen!

I hope this encouraging word helps and reminds you to take some time, get away and just breathe.

Stay Blessed,
