This morning at about 4:30ish I woke up with a verse of scripture playing in my mind.
Has that ever happened to you before?
Have you ever just woken up thinking something was wrong, but really it was just God waking you up to talk?
Now, don't get me wrong, I laid there and was like, "Lord, if that's you please let the verse wake me up at a more reasonable hour." Now, we can giggle about it at 8am but at 4:30 am? When the house was asleep and I had finally fell in a deep enough sleep that I was more than likely snoring and having a decent enough dream. But Friend, we're running out of time down here. And Jesus is getting ready to come meet us in the sky.
So, I got up. I read the verse of scripture and while there may be more that He will reveal to me throughout the day, I want to share it with you this beautiful rainy morning.
"When Jesus heard this, He said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [Only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness]." Mark 2:17
Now, there is a quiet message in this verse that you have to realize, too. I fully believe that when Jesus said, "He did not come to call the righteous," it wasn't the people that believed in God alone. Because if you take the scripture at face value and see we are all sinners, and we all fall short of the glory of God. You'll realize the ones who were standing before Him in that moment who were "righteous" were more than likely the ones who were self-righteous.
Because it was the Pharisees who were asking His disciple's, "Why does He eat with tax-collectors and sinners?" when He told them why He came. The beauty in that message being they still needed Him, too! Throughout His whole ministry Jesus tried to help anyone that would listen. He loved all of us. Why else would He tell the Father, "Forgive them Father, they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34). When they hung him on a cross after beating Him and casted lots for His clothes.
People that never think they need help, or that are in no need of the "doctor" are being prideful and self-righteous. We all need help. We all need HIM. Even the Pastor at church needs Him. That's why Jesus told the disciples it is better that I go because I am sending a helper (John 16:7). The Holy Spirit is with us 24/7, 365 days a year and an extra day during leap year.
SO, Friend, He came to help you. No matter what your life looks like. No matter what your mistakes are. No matter where you've been or how long ago you picked up that bible covered in dust on your bookshelf or hidden away in that drawer. He's still calling you. He's still waiting for you. God doesn't give up on us like we tend to give up on Him. Jesus is NOT fickle like we are. He will wait on you, but you need to go ahead and fix that relationship.
You matter. Your life matters. And you were created for a reason.
If you are ready to fix that relationship and get back on track pray this with me,
Lord,
I've made a mess of things, and I cannot fix it alone. I may have backslid or stepped over the fence in a place I had no business going, but Lord you never give up on me. Father, come back into my life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me the discernment to know and hear your voice. Father, go before and behind me. Keep me close in times of trouble and guide me through the valley. Lord, I recommit my life to you and your will and I ask that you forgive me for all of my sins and iniquity and anything that could keep me from you in eternity. I love and I thank you Father, In Jesus Name, Amen.
Friend, my inbox is always open, and you are not alone in this. God is not done with your story.
He came for you, too.
Stay Blessed!
