Hey friends and welcome back to my little corner of the internet.
I'd like to tell you a little about my author journey. I've hinted at a few things and immersed you with details with the end of the process.
What I haven't told you is the mental toll it takes on you. It seems easy to someone who's never had to deal with growing a social media account, but I can tell you it can be daunting and exhausting.
Support didn't always come from the people I thought it would. Support came from strangers on the internet, people from my church, a few friends and family. But the bookish community really pulled through most days. TikTok shadow banned me right as my debut cover was revealed. I shifted my focus to Instagram but even that was a slow go. The more I interacted the more it spammed all of my great effort.
So, I turned my efforts to something I thought I could control. I created a Mailerlite account, linked it here to my website and somehow managed a landing page with a newsletter welcome email.
And let me be the first to say, trying to do programing and coding is not something I ever want the privilege of undertaking as a career. I am unfit for that role. But with the help of the trusty google engine and some stretched patience, I managed.
Things with the formatting did not always go well, I had to ask for help with more things than I ever thought I would. Being an indie author brings that out in you. You can figure it out, but having support and a community helps.
I could not have done any of the editing alone. Thankfully God sent me an amazing lady.
I did however create my cover and all of the images inside. Just like with Cocoa and the Raging Storm. Learning to use multiple programs has been an achievement I am quite proud of.
Even though the road was long and full of trails and error, I made it. Now, I have a legacy that I am building that my children and my children's children can be proud of. And that is the greatest gift.
Stay Blessed
